About
A clinician's forty years, and what they taught him about the soul.
I worked as a consultant psychiatrist in the United Kingdom and Australia for over forty years, after training in India. Dundee, then Ipswich, then Melbourne — three health systems, one recurring question: why do people who know exactly what is wrong with them so rarely go free?
Psychiatry gave me language for the mechanism — the conditioning, the injury, the pattern that repeats because it once kept someone safe. It did not, on its own, give me a door out. What I saw in my own life, and later in the lives of patients who found faith, was that the door is a person. That claim is not clinical, and I do not pretend otherwise. But I have watched it hold.
So I write in two registers at once. The psychology is careful and earned; the theology is plain and unembarrassed. Readers tell me the combination is unusual. I think it is simply honest about where I have been standing.
I have kept a journal of this journey for decades, published a blog since 2020, and written two books. I am a disciple of Jesus. My vision is to take a million souls to Heaven.
